The one thing that made really wanted to get into fashion blogging, wasn’t necessarily the clothes (all that was big part of it) but it was the community. For as cutthroat the Fashion world can be, I have personally found that the fashion blogosphere is a welcoming and inclusive place. Even for a notorious introvert like me, it didn’t take very long into my own blogging journey to make some really great friends. One of the first friends I have ever made was fellow Texan blogger Trina Morgan from the Tipsy Heelz’ blog.
Trina has been nothing but welcoming and supportive and a lot of times has even pitch hit as my blogging mentor. When I first thought about doing interviews, I knew the first person I would have to ask was Trina. So sit down and join me as we have a conversation with Trina!
Q: Let’s start with a little background. Where are you from?
I’m from Navasota Texas
Q: I never heard of that town? is it a big city or a little town?
Navasota is a small little town I grew up in and it’s known for two male musicians that hit it big in the music industry. One is Joe Tex and Mance Lipscomb
Q: Wow, so where do you live now if you don’t mind me asking?
I live about 23 miles from Navasota in a small college city named College Station is known for the Texas A&M Aggies. I’ve been here since 2004 and I’ve grown to love it because of it so beautiful and have it’s constantly growing with so many restaurants and entertainment.
Q: Oh, I know College Station. I heard some very nice things about that town.
Yes, love it! The people are so nice and friendly and there is always some cool event going on, some which I have attended in the past. They have wine tasting events sometimes, Wolf Pen Creek that has amazing bands.
It’s free and you can bring your chairs and drinks and enjoy the entertainment.
Q: Did you always have an interest in Fashion?
Well, I started getting interested when I saw my first fashion magazines called Cosmopolitan. I saw all these beautiful women in pretty clothes and wished I could dress like them. In my early thirties, I became really interested so I started my first blog back then and started posting fashion clothes as a hobby and to share what I loved. This year I really ventured out and started modeling my clothes for my blog readers to see.
The first blog was Big Girls Don’t cry for plus size women I love fashion because it gives me a chance to be creative and mix things up. When I wake fashion is on my mind lol! Maybe weird to some but I love it
Q: I know from my own experience that it takes courage to get from behind the camera and put yourself out there. It was people like you who made me realize despite my physical scars and weight that I could go out there and do it. Where you nervous when you first started modeling for your photos? Where you always so confident?
That is so awesome Gigi I’m glad I can help encourage anyone to show their size no matter their size or scares. We are all unique in many ways.
Yes, a little nervous because I felt no one would be interested in what I wore. I wasn’t always confident because I let my size conquer me, but I got out of that shell when I started seeing women bigger than me model clothes and they were so confident and by seeing them I became confident. I looked in the mirror and saw that I was a beautiful woman with my chubby cheeks lol! I hated my legs at a point until I really looked at them, the shape and how they looked in heels and also people complimented what pretty thick legs I had.
Even though I’m a big girl I love my waist and how it looks in clothes. I may not have a flat tummy, but I work with what I have.
Q: What made you create Tipsy Heelz? When did that begin?
I created Tipsy Heelz because I also love heels. I started out just posting different heels but became bored with just posting that. I wanted to add in my passion for fashion also. I came up with the name from The Tipsy Bartender lol! then added heelz to it. It just had a ring to it so I started it in 2015. I don’t post heels as much, but I try to still incorporate them in my post from time to time
Q: Wow, you have come a long way in such short time. I’m impressed. I’m only six months in and I still trying to find my stride.
Thank you, Gigi! You will get there soon enough with all those fabulous fashion posts of yours. I can tell you know your fashion, but yea just keep posting what you love and before you know it you’ll be where you want to be.
Q: Did you start Tispy Heelz as hobby blog? And if you did start your blog as a hobby, when did you start taking seriously as a business?
I started it out as a business blog, the first one was a hobby. So in the beginning of starting Tipsy Heelz was serious business wise
Q: Any advice for new fashion bloggers?
I would recommend you visit as many blogs and make friends and make honest comments, this is how you build bonds with people and before you know it you’ll have a loyal following who love what you do.
Q: What do you look for when you are networking?
When I join communities I look for friendliness and people that can give me some constructive criticism on what I need to do to improve
Q: Where do you find inspiration for your posts.
I find inspiration all over from family to friends and even googling what’s trending. I also use Polyvore sometimes even though I’ve never purchased from it before. I like to build outfit ideas in case one day I might just want to buy an outfit I create there. Inspiration is everywhere lol!
Q: What is your favorite designer?
That’s cool! To tell you the truth my cousin lol! Even though her designs aren’t in production, that girl has some beautiful unique designs on paper. I would wear her fashion in a heartbeat whenever she gets her stuff out there, but I like some designers such as Igigi, Monif C and others
Q: What has been your post on your blog so far?
My favorite post was me in the little Black dress and leggings lol! I looked pretty darn sexy and my husband loved it to. I got a pretty good amount of comments and compliments on my blog about it. I also loved your fashion post in that pretty blouse and Black leggings. You looked so beautiful hon!
Q: This is my last question. What are your goals for Tipsyheelz in the future?
My goals for Tipsy Heelz is to grow more, get more subscribers and make enough income to help my husband around the house. Hopefully adding new things of interest to get my blog name out there more.
